RUSH: I’ve gotta check the transcripts of the first half hour of this program today.  There’s a story that’s just been posted by Politico and also at CBS News on their website.  The headline to this story is: “House GOP Mocked by Rush.”  Now, as far as I remember, I said, “God bless the House Republicans,” today. “House GOP Mocked by Rush.”  For those of you in the House GOP — those of you on The Hill listening, those of you who know people on the Hill — I did not mock the House GOP today.  I got on conservative media for mocking the House GOP!  Here’s what this story says: “Rush Limbaugh opened his show today by piling on top of House Republican leadership for claiming that a crucial number of their members voted against it bailout package because of a partisan speech that Pelosi gave.”

They quote me as saying, “Come on, guys, can you grow up?  There were a whole lot of reasons for House Republicans to vote against this thing yesterday.”  I’m having Koko at the website check the transcript.  What I said today was that I was upset that conservative media was jumping all over Republicans.  I was praising the House Republicans for the vote, and I pointed out that the real reason that they… I said, “They probably said this, but the real reason that they voted against it was they saw what the Democrats were doing. They saw all kinds of Democrats voting ‘no’ on this.”  Whatever the case, I am not the one “mocking the House GOP.”  There are others — like at National Review Online in their Corner blog, Republicans in the House are being mocked — but not by me.

I’m the one standing up for ‘em!  Others on our side of the aisle are saying, “Well, you know, both sides are to blame.”  No, both sides are not to blame.  It’s the Democrats who are to blame.  I’m not going to blame the Republicans for anything here.  This headline is designed to dispirit the House Republicans and to make ‘em think everybody on the right is aligned against them, and it’s not the case.  There may be people on our side aligned against the House Republicans for shortsighted and illiterate reasons, uninformed reasons but I’m telling you: I am not one of them.  I praise them.  As soon as I get this transcript I’m going to find out how in the world this misunderstanding happened here.  I’ve said a lot of words here.  It’s hard to remember them all specifically.  That’s why we’re checking the transcript.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I have looked at the transcript of what I said in the first hour, and ladies and gentlemen, the Politico, the guy that wrote this, Ryan Grim — I’ve actually had no trouble with the Politico before.  All the people there who have written about me have been aboveboard.  Jonathan Martin has been excellent.  So has Mike Allen.  But this is absurd.  Here’s the transcript of what I said:  “The Republicans in Congress, I think went out there and said some things about Pelosi’s speech yesterday that a lot of Republicans, a lot of conservatives, “Come on, you guys, can you grow up?  Don’t tell us that you changed your vote on saving the country because Pelosi delivered a partisan speech,” quoting, frankly, people writing at The Corner at National Review Online, conservative media.  Then I resumed speaking for myself, “I, frankly, think that’s what they said, but I don’t think that’s at all why they changed their vote, if they changed their vote at all.  I think that’s what they went out there and said.”

I was defending them.  I was not accusing them of being childish.  I was not mocking them.  I was being critical of our own media for mocking them, when what happened here was that the failure of the thing was planned, that Pelosi wanted it to go down in tubes.  Now, I acknowledge that the Republicans went out there and made the comments that Pelosi’s partisan speech had an effect on this, but then in the very comment I say here, “That’s not why they really changed their vote.”  I defended them.  They changed their vote because they saw what the Democrats were doing.  They saw Democrats voting against it.  Politico has become Media Matters here:  “House GOP Mocked by Rush.” The segment containing this transcript on the website tonight is going to be headlined:  “God bless the House Republicans.”  I have been the one supporting them totally without wavering against them here during this whole thing, and the Politico comes out and tries to say I mocked them.  Now, admittedly the Politico did not have access to my quotation marks in my uttered voiced comments, but it’s not hard to figure out here.  “The Republicans in Congress, I think went out there and said some things about Pelosi’s speech yesterday that a lot of Republicans, a lot of conservatives, “Come on, you guys, can you grow up?” It was not I saying that about the Republicans in Congress.

It sounds to me like there is an ongoing effort here to dispirit the Republicans in the House for hanging tough.  That’s exactly what it is, and to let them think, to have them think that one of their strongest support avenues has betrayed them.  I assure you, I don’t care what the Politico writes, I don’t care how people interpret it, I have not abandoned the conservatives in the House.  Do you realize where we’d be if these guys had caved?  I don’t care why they didn’t cave. I don’t care why they say they didn’t cave.  I know why they didn’t cave, and I know why it is that they hung tough, ’cause they realize this was an election year maneuver by Pelosi that had nothing to do with salvaging the US economy, quote, unquote.  They knew that from day one.  They also knew that there was nothing different in this bill from its original proposal as brought forth by Henry Paulson over a week ago.

Anonymous Reporter: ‘Fix Is In’ for Obama

From NewsBusters:

From the department of truth admission comes this email from inside a major newsroom:

Off the record, every suspicion you have about MSM being in the tank for O is true. We have a team of 4 people going thru dumpsters in Alaska and 4 in arizona. Not a single one looking into Acorn, Ayers or Freddiemae. Editor refuses to publish anything that would jeopardize election for O, and betting you dollars to donuts same is true at NYT, others. People cheer when CNN or NBC run another Palin-mocking but raising any reasonable inquiry into obama is derided or flat out ignored. The fix is in, and its working.

And this:

I have a couple friends who work in the MSM, too, and one of them tells me the newsroom is (exact words) “unbelievably cavalier” about any complaints viewers register about their reports, what they ignore, their bias or the way they edit Republicans vs. the way the treat Dems. “Cavalier” as in the fix is in and they don’t even have to pretend to care what half the country thinks or wants.

Obama Campaign Stifles Free Speech At University Rally

More news about our would-be Fuhrer, Hugo Chavez Obama from NewsBusters,

The candidate of change, the shining proponent of a “new way” in national politics, says that you aren’t allowed to bring a sign to his rally. So much for the right of free political speech. To add insult to injury, this rally was held at the publicly funded University of Mary Washingtonin Fredericksburg, Virginia. So, now the government is lending the weight of its authority to squelch free speech. So, where is the hew and cry about this unAmerican activity? Did the media even note this heavy-handed policy?

But, it is all true nonetheless. The rally was heldand weak-spined school officials bent over and meekly accepted the rules derived from the fascistic penchant of the Obama campaign with its anti-first amendment proclivities. Some few small voices questioned this oppression of American rights, but for the most part no one seems to have noticed that Virginians had their Constitutional rights quashed that day. Shockingly, some even thought it was a good idea.

The Obama campaign, falling back on the oldest dodge in the book, claimed that campaign signs were not allowed because of “security concerns.” Who can doubt, though, that it was instead because of “camera concerns”? The Obama campaign was far more interested in photo ops clear of McCain signs or other unwanted reminders that there are other opinions out there among the unwashed masses than that of sycophancy for The One.

On one hand, I see the logic in a campaign making sure that it controls the atmosphere of a campaign stop. It’s only good sense. And if this control were to be exerted on private property with the full acceptance and participation of the property owners, well who can deny that? But it wasn’t. This rally happened on public land.

Now, let us harken back to the “reason” that Sarah Palin was refused the podium at the anti-Iran rally last week, shall we? She was denied because of the so-called “equal time” rule, remember? This is a shadowy “rule” that seems to state that no politician may speak in public unless his opponent also appears to speak.

So, one wonders: did the University of Mary Washington invite the McCain campaign to the rally with Obama? And if not, why not? After all, this is a publicly funded institution. Are we to accept that such a place would violate that sacrosanct “equal time” rule? Are we to believe that a place funded by our money not only didn’t invite the opposing candidate, but used its publicly derived authority to squelch free speech by disallowing signs?

I suppose we’ll have to believe such a thing, after all.

Of course, the media doesn’t mind. Who can deny that such heavy-handed campaign policies smoothes the waters for their messiah. I can only chuckle at this. I mean, Obama is the first messiah that needs average men to smooth the waters for him instead of being all powerful enough to smooth them himself. How shallow must be the water he walks upon?

Obama is turning into a real Fascist, and he isn’t even President yet. One would think that the better time for him to engage in unconstitutional practices would be after the election so he has more of a chance of winning. . . But oh well, the Liberal mindset is an unpredictable thing.

Prediction: John McCain will win in November
September 30, 2008, 5:36 am

Yep. Despite the polls that show Hugo Chavez ahead, I’m predicting that John McCain will win the election. Also, despite the state of Virginia coming into play with Obama in a 5 point lead, I am convinced that McCain will carry the state. Basically, I think the map will look identical to how it did in 2000.

My advice to anyone despairing: Do not pay any attention to the polls. That will only depress you even further. Besides, most polls are liberal anyway. Letting those polls get to you will only increase the likely-hood of you going out to the polls in November. And if that happens, then an Obama win will be on your head because you didn’t do anything about it.

Yesterday, Rush Limbaugh said something on his show that interested me. — Whether you like Rush or not, he is en excellent analyst. — He said that when the socialistic Bailout failed that this was an implication in the November election. He thinks that they voted against it because they are worried about keeping their seats.

The congressional vote shows that 95 Democrats voted against the bailout and a total of 228 congressmen voted against it in total. 205 voted for it. — That is: 52.44% of the vote against, and 47.15% voted against.

So if Rush is correct, then McCain may get 50+% on November 4.

Edit: My main reason for predicting a McCain win is what Obama has been doing lately, stifling freedom of speech and resorting to threats. I just cannot believe that the American people, in the end, would vote for a Fascist like Barack.
